This summer I went back to the beautiful island Fuerteventura in the Canarias. We stayed in a small town called Corralejo, with small distance to most of the many spots in the North.
The North Shore offers some really great wave spots, and pretty good flat water areas. The summer months is the windy season, and you can except to use kites from 7 m2 to 12 m2.
On this trip we really did explore the north coast, and got to try out spots all over the place. You will have to endure a bit of lava rocks, but no problem for the Rabbit kites 🙂 We mainly did waves on this trip, but had the boots on a couple of times.
If the wind is off, you can always catch some good waves along the north coast. The place is well known for its surfing, and you can catch them all year round. In the winter period you can expect some really big things hitting the North shore.
We also visited WH Canary Island agent, Fadi, and his new Rabbit House in Lajares. A really nice guy and a perfect place to stay for a kite trip to Fuerteventura. He also has a surf house in Majanicho with perfect view of the North shore. So if you are looking for a nice place to stay, or want to get a kite lesson from a pro, he`s the man! He really knows the place and the conditions! You can hook up with him here: http://www.ksfuerte.com/index.php?m=links
We also had a visit from our long time kite buddy, Ole Lie, who moved from Norway to Gran Canaria a couple of years back. We did catch some really good waves together, and had a few…..ehhh… a lot…off beers 😉 Good to see you again Ole!
We stayed for 4 weeks, and me and my brother, Thomas, scored some really great conditions, both waves and flat water. I had an amazing time, and for sure will return to Fuerteventura some day!!
We did shoot a lot of pics on the trip, check em out here:
Aloha
